Case: Lydbølgen 7000

A record store
built from scratch
with 60,000+ records in catalogue

Lydbølgen 7000 is a record store in Fredericia, Denmark. I built their Shopify storefront from scratch, did the design, and wrote the integrations that pull data from several suppliers every day, so more than 60,000 products stay updated with the best available information and both front and back cover images.

The store was built from nothing, so there is no "before" to measure against. The numbers below describe the scope of what runs in production every day instead.

Product data is pulled from several suppliers and merged, so each product ends up with the best available description and both front and back cover images before it is passed on to the store and to Google Merchant Center.

About the client

Lydbølgen 7000: vinyl in the heart of Fredericia

Lydbølgen 7000 has been on Prinsessegade in Fredericia since 2024. They sell new and used LPs, CDs and merchandise like t-shirts, hoodies, patches and posters, and there is coffee on while you flip through the crates. It is as much a place to spend time as a shop to buy from.

That was the whole brief. A webshop holding 60,000 records can easily turn into a spreadsheet with pictures attached, and it was clear from the start that the feeling you get in the shop had to carry over to the web. So the design, the search and the product presentation were all built specifically for this store rather than leaning on a stock theme.

What I did

From an empty Shopify install to a store that feels like the shop in Fredericia

01

Storefront and design from scratch

The entire store was built from nothing: structure, design and frontend. The goal was to capture the atmosphere of the physical shop in Fredericia, so buying online still feels like walking through its door.

02

Daily supplier integrations

Custom integrations pull product data from several suppliers every day and merge it, so more than 60,000 products carry the best possible information and both front and back cover images. The catalogue feeds Google Merchant Center, keeping the products current in Google's shopping surfaces too.

03

Modules built for a record store

A bespoke search field shaped around how people actually look for music, and a recently-viewed module so customers can find their way back to a record they were considering. Neither could be solved with an off-the-shelf app.
